Reblogged from Guy Debord's Cat:
Like other observers of the Westminster Circus, The Cat believes today's cabinet reshuffle represents little change in government policy in spite of the rearrangement of faces in the various ministries and departments. One thing is for certain, the reshuffle is a combination of political manoeuvring and blatant arrogance. It's the government's great big two fingers up to the people.
A few changes have indeed caught my eye.
Another good piece from Guy DeBord’s cat, pointing out in rather more eloquent terms than I managed yesterday how little difference the re-shuffle will actually make. The hand-wringing from the left-wing commentariat about it being “a lurch to the right” is just silly. The faces have changed but the policies haven’t. I suppose the only genuinely interesting move is that of Justine Greening, in that it clearly presages a government u-turn on a third runway. But again, that about-face has been coming for some time and Greening’s removal is only really the icing on the cake.
